Materials Needed:

• 1" plastic headbands

• 3/8" ribbon (3 inches long each, 6 different ribbons, heat sealed one one end)

• Hot glue gun with glue sticks

**These directions were designed for those who are already familiar with the 4 ribbon version - You can learn from the beginning with these instructions, however it will be easier if you are already familiar and comfortable with the 4 ribbon version first.

**The MOST difficult part is getting the ribbons properly placed at the beginning. I had the weave pattern mastered long before I had figured out how to get it properly placed in the beginning. Take your time getting it placed right from the start will not only make the headband turn out better, but will also make the weave pattern easier.

1. Take the six ribbons you have chosen for your headband and glue the heat sealed ends together as shown. You should use four of the ribbons to create two long, straight pieces with the ends glued together with a 1/8 inch overlap. The other two ribbons should be glued together to make a slightly offset L shape as shown in the picture.
   
   
   
   
   

2. Take the headband and hold it right side up like you wear it. Now you are going to hot glue the L shape piece to the inside of the end of the headband you plan to start your weave on.
   
   
   
   

3. Turn the headband back around so you are holding it upside down (U) shape and glue one of the double pieces with the seam on the front of the headband as shown in the picture.
   
   
   
   

4. Take the other double piece of ribbon and glue the ribbon so the bottom ribbon covers the seam on the front and the seam for this ribbon will be on the back of the end of the headband when flipped around.
   
   
   
   

5. Flip the top double end ribbon (flower and V ribbon in this case) around to the back so that it covers the L shape ribbon that you glued down in step 2.
   
   
   
   

6. Take the other double ribbon and flip it over the back so that it covers the glue seam from the ribbon you flipped around in step 6.
   
   
   
   

7. Flip the headband back and hold it upside down like a U again. This will be the way you will hold it during the weave process. Take the back right ribbon from step 2 and fold it around and placing it over the right top ribbon.
   
   
   
   

8. Take the back right ribbon (in this case the straight stripe ribbon) and fold it around to the front under the top right ribbon (blue/white flower)
   
   
   
   
   

9. Now you will have 3 ribbons all on the top left side. Take the top, back ribbon (starburst ribbon) and weave it through these three ribbons going under, over, under the three ribbons.
   
   
   
   

10. Keep the headband a U shape and tip it towards you to look at the back of the weave. First fold the top left ribbon (diagonal stripe) under the back left ribbon (solid light blue).
    
    
    
    

11. Finish the back weave by now taking the top right ribbon (blue/white flower) and placing it under the back right ribbon (diagonal stripe).
    
    
    
    

12. Now Look back and the front of the headband, still holding it like a U. This now brings you back to step 8. You are going to repeat this same weave pattern repeating steps 8-12 over and over until the entire headband is covered.
    
    
    
    

13. Once you have covered the whole headband glue down the last few pieces of ribbon to the very end of the headband. (the headband shown in the picture is a different one than I used in the tutorial)
    
    
    
    

14. Cut the ribbons about 1/8 inch away from the end of the plastic. Heat seal the ends of the ribbon to smooth out the edges and prevent fraying.
    
    
    
    

    You now have finished your headband! After you master the weave pattern and layout, try experimenting with different color combinations. You can get some really unique looks from using some of the same colors together instead of six entirely different colors!
